Poppy Jones (b.1985, London) currently lives and works in Bexhill-on Sea. Employing a subtle layering of mediums, Jones transfers her own closely cropped, photographic imagery onto intimately sized panels of recycled suede, silk and leather through a process of monotype printing and subsequent overpainting. Nuanced shifts in colour and tone are unique to each work, creating unforeseen interactions with her often familiar subject matter. In this way, Jones celebrates the ephemeral nature of the everyday, prompting a reconsideration of the fleeting and discarded.
Jones completed her BA in Fine Art at Falmouth College of Art before receiving her MA in Fine Art Printmaking from the Royal College of Art in 2010. Jones recently had a solo show Bright Sleep at South Parade, London (2021) and has previously presented solo shows at Project 78 Gallery, St Leonards-on-Sea (2016) and 248 Clapham Road, London (2014). Jones has been included in group shows at Gerald Moore Gallery, London (2017); The Bluecoat, Liverpool (2014) and Newlyn Gallery, Cornwall (2011).
