As an influential member of the Pictures Generation, Richard Prince works alongside other artists to expand the scope of conceptual photography through the use of appropriation and rephotography.
This exhibition catalogue accompanied Prince’s 2014 exhibition at the Kunsthaus Bregenz, It’s a Free Concert, the artist’s first institutional exhibition in Austria, which featured many unseen works.
As Robert Rubin writes on the artist’s subversive work, ‘[Prince] appropriates an era and makes something that resonates differently for different people. The beauty of Richard Prince’s art is that it doesn’t have limits.’
The book includes text contributions by Richard Prince, Paul Black, Kerstin Stakemeier and Yilmaz Dziewior as well as illustrations of his iconic series including the Joke paintings and the Car Hoods sculptures.
