In Daffodils, Poppy Jones (b.1985) employs a complex blending of mediums to produce this delicate monochrome capturing a vase of daffodils upon a windowsill. This piece began as a photograph that Jones then transferred onto a piece of recycled suede through a process of monotype printing and subsequent overpainting. Jones’ practice often produces unintended results Jones relishes the unintended results that her practice often produces and we see an example of this in the scarring on the left of Daffodils. Such features imbue the work with both personality and history, giving power to this ephemeral scene.
